Random Thoughts

Well, once again, I have been totally remiss and let things slide on the blogging front.
There are several reasons for this, none of them particularly excuse-worthy.
Obviously, things are, as always, busy on the work front. I am currently in the middle of developing an inbound and outbound EAI Integration for my client and things are pretty complicated.
My time in Paris is almost up as I will be finishing here in May, which brings up the propsect of finding a new contract in this rather challenging job market. That said, I would love a couple of months off as I have not had any real time off since last Summer.
On the LINQ front, things had been going quite well, I have redeveloped quite a few of my data-layer classes using LINQ for Entities and the Entity Framework and they seem to work well. I have also had to make corresponding modifications to my middle tier classes as well as I intend to use LINQ for Objects in that layer.
I have also completely rewritten my database connection logic as the application obviously now needs to connect to the Entity Framework rather than the Database directly and the connection is now completely DB independent which is good.
However, I recently moved flats in Paris, and I can no longer access my development machine. It is not even accepting an IP address from my router. As I access it via Remote Desktop, this is a bit of a problem! The machine is obviously not booting correctly so I will have to try and find a monitor at work to see what the problem is.
I think I will upgrade to a new development laptop pretty soon! I am sure that I can find this machine a new role in my house in Canada, perhaps as a Set Top Box plugged into the TV or something!
So, as a result, Development efforts have ground to a halt for the last couple of weeks which is a bit frustrating.
I have also been pretty slack reporting tech news recently which is a bit disappointing as I quite like commenting on issues in areas that interest me.
Anyway, I must dash as I have an Inbound Workflow to rewrite!Â
